Missouri State University has been helping the community with sustainability projects since 2000. This includes environmental, social and economic development research and support that aids in community development projects  and programs.
BPCA has signed a MOU with them and that is forging deeper ties between both entities.

JahWorks

An international nonprofit that combines sustainable community development with an impact travel experience in rural Jamaica.  The main focus of Jah Works has been to build rainwater catchment systems for households that do not have piped water. They have also done fundraising for the Bluefields Basic School and have assisted with repairs and remodeling of the Bluefields Peoples Community Association building and its landscaping.

Food for the Poor

An interdenominational Christian aid ministry that began in Jamaica in 1982 and now works in 17 countries in the Caribbean and Latin America. They have been a major benefactor to Bluefields, providing boats, motors, and two buildings for the Bluefields Bay Fisher's Society; constructing the new Bluefields Basic School; and erecting approximately 200 houses for low-income households.
